Saturday Sketch Challenge #249

Hello everyone and welcome to a new Saturday Sketch Challenge from the Stamping 411 Operators!

Before we get started on the sketch, we just want to say how sorry we are that Tiffany Bauer, has made the difficult decision to step down. She wants to focus her time and energy on her family and her Stampin' UP! business. Although we understand and wish her all the best, we are so sad that she won't be posting with us each week. We have all been challenged and inspired by Tiffany beautiful work and her amazing Scrapbook layouts! We will miss you, Tiffany! We hope you will take an opportunity to visit Tiffany's blog and give her a little love.

This week's sketch gives you an opportunity to pull out some of your punches and get creative with shapes! Although squares are used on the sketch, we can't wait to see how you translate this sketch into your own creative masterpiece! You'll see from the Operator inspiration piece below, that we used a variety of shapes to make this sketch our own. Feel free to keep it simple or bump it up a notch. A sketch is just a place for you to begin, a picure to get your own creative juices flowing. We hope you will have some fun with it!

So, how about some Potential Measurements for this weeks sketch?
  1. Layer one -- Cardstock cut to 5.5 x 8.5", scored and folded to make the Card Base
  2. Layer Two -- cardstock or DSP cut at 4 x 5.25"
  3. Additional Layers -- punch shapes of your choice
WOW! That's easy isn't it! Are you ready to be inspired ...

Saturday Sketch Challenge 248

Good Evening Friends!

It's time for another fabulous sketch challenge from your stamping 411 operators.  This week we have a fairly clean and simple sketch for you.

Feel free to keep it simple or bump it up a notch.  I have always viewed a sketch challenge as a jumping off point for design.  Please have some fun with it!

So, how about some Potential Measurements for this weeks sketch?

Base:  11 x 4 1/4", scored in half at 5 1/2" Tip!*  Try taking a piece of paper and scoring at 5 1/2" on the 11" side first.  Then when you cut your paper in half, you'll get two bases from one sheet of paper!  By going the long way, it will make it easy to tie a ribbon all the way around the card.
Layer 2: 4 x 3"
Layer 3: 3 3/4" x 2 3/4"
Layer 4:  Punched shape
Layer 5: Tie it up with a ribbon or 1 x 4 1/4"

Here are your operator samples for this week's sketch:

How To~ Make Larger Rounded Corners and Marker Coloring Fresh Vintage

Hi Everyone,
I’d like to share how to make larger rounded corners with your circle punches. See how big the rounded corners are?
How to make large rounded corners 017
First I cut my white cardstock to 4 1/4 x 11 and scored at 5 1/2. then I folded it to make a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card base.

You can use any circle punch you want and even make them bigger but I chose the 1 1/4 Circle Punch.

With the Whisper White you are able to punch through both sides if you like. Simply insert the corner into the slot from the outside top of the punch through the hole as shown.  Sometimes you have to insert more to one side and then center it.

I then cut my Real Red Card Stock to 3 3/4 x 5 and did the same to two of the corners and layered it on top of the white fold over.

Now it was time to select an image…..hmmmmmm
Love the Fresh Vintage from the Sale-a-Bration Catalog and decided to ink it up with Markers For the flowers I decided to use my So Saffron marker and totally covered the flowers using the brush side of the marker.

I then went back and just touched the Real Red Marker to just a few areas around the flowers….

I used Two Green markers this time to give the foliage a bit of dimension. Old Olive and Pear Pazzazz. Huff (Heavy Breathing) onto your stamp to re-moisten and stamp onto your Image Piece of Card Stock. Really at this time my plan was to cut or punch out just a bit of the image but I liked it so much I left it. I then rounded the corners of that piece cut to 3 5/8 x 4 7/8, and  added the Image piece to the other layers and thought what now…….well…..

Ribbon and a Greeting of course. The Ribbon is tied into a double bow with the Red Satin Ribbon, and the sentiment is from Apothecary in the Occasions Mini stamped in Real Red.
One final touch was the string of pearls below the Birthday Greeting just to give it a bit more pazzazz.

I hope you enjoyed my little Tutorial today. It was fun to do. Give those circle punches a try….you might like it.
Have a GREAT Day!!!
